4Nice bookJul 27, 2010
its a nice well-rounded general know-how-to book. It doesn't get too deep into any one particular project, yet the info is good. Some of the graphics look a bit dated despite the claim of it being recently revised. I suppose all is well though, how much does plumbing change over the years? Hammering a nail is still hammering a nail.

i've enjoyed this book and plan on using it as a main point of reference for future household projects.

2Damaged goodsJul 19, 2010
The Reader's Digest Complete Do It Yourself Manual arrived in a damaged package and all four corners of the book were badly crushed. Very disappointed.

5Fantastic ResourceMay 19, 2010
Grew up with the original 70's edition in my house that belonged to my dad. He was telling me that this book probably saved him thousands of dollars. Knowing he isn't much of a handyman, and that his patience with following instructions is very limited, I figured this book must be pretty straightforward. The updated edition isn't any different.

As a first-time homebuyer, I felt this would be an invaluable guide for all of my future projects. Highly recommended.

5Man this was handy!Feb 03, 2010
I consider myself lucky to own this guide. The guide is straight forward and to the point, focusing not only on the steps to take, but also the precautions and pitfalls of projects. Even if you don't know a thing about home improvement this guide can walk you through many different situations step by step. It also features a good introduction to Do-It-Yourself(D-I-Y), the tools, the mentality, and the safety.

The only problem I had with this guide, is that it made some projects look easier then they actually are (sort of like home improvement shows on the television).

I would recommend this guide to anyone who is thinking about home improvement but isn't sure whether to hire a contractor or attempt to D-I-Y. I would also recommend this guide to people who like using the internet to learn D-I-Y projects as published printings tend to be more reliable then internet "hearsay".

5Do It Yourself!Jan 30, 2010
I refer to this book all the time. It actually helped me build my house and now it helps with maintenance and improvements. The instructions are clear, easy to understand, even for an inexperienced do-it-yourselfer.
