Not All That InspiringJun 07, 2010 I was interested in this book and decided to check it out from the library before purchasing, BOY, am I glad I decided to do that!! I'm not a super experienced crafter, but I am getting more and more interested in it and testing out new projects and always looking for a little inspiration and motivation. Hardly anything in this book was inspiring to me.
Many of the projects had pictures that used outdated fabrics or other materials that were just a "turnoff". Yes, some of the ideas were good, but had images that made me think "Gee, that looks like something my mom would have made in 1982." This also made it difficult to imagine giving any of these items as gifts. I will probably take a couple of these ideas and use more modern materials with them, but if you're not someone that can look at an image and see it with your own twist on it, this may not be the book for you.
All in all, artwork aside, these are mostly simple crafts that have been seen over and over, but that can be good for a beginning crafter or someone that just needs a simple project for a quick gift (as the book is marketed for just that). Pretty simple directions with several alternate ideas (there aren't really 120 DIFFERENT techniques/ideas, probably about 1/4 of that with three alternates to each idea). If you are able to, browse this book in person before purchasing to see if it is really what you are looking for. It could be exactly what you need or you could end up quite disappointed, like I did.
Neat Crafting IdeasApr 06, 2010 Some ideas are old but it is still a good basic crafting book that I would nave no troble recommending.
LacklusterFeb 21, 2010 This book gives good directions. I used a couple of ideas, then donated it to local library.
Cute and Do-able ProjectsApr 21, 2009 I really like this book, because it has great projects in it that can be done when you may be a bit short on time, as well as those that would require more time and focus. I find the projects in this book to be very thoughtful and I'm glad that it is a part of my library collection of craft books.
Fabulous!Feb 08, 2009 LOTS of great ideas! The best bang for your buck as far as lots of ideas for making gifts. It's timeless.
