Magic Foods for Better Blood SugarFeb 07, 2010 This book is great for people who don't know that much about foods & how they react with our bodies. Very informative, easy to read & understand with so many ideas for meal prep etc. When ordering this book, make sure it has measurements that you understand & use. I ordered 3 books at different times in a two month period. The one for me, from Readers Digest, came with measurements that we use in the U.S. (cups/ ounces etc) The one I ordered from Amazon for my son came with European measurements as did the one for my friend that was ordered at a third location. Other than the difference in measurements this is a very good reference book to have in your kitchen! I probably should have checked before I ordered all of these books to make sure that they came with U.S. measurements.

A really helpful bookFeb 20, 2009 I bought this book and have really learned a lot from what I've read. "Magic Foods" is written in a conversational style that is both interesting and entertaining to read and puts forward some ideas that really make sense.
All of the "magic" in this book comes from foods that are readily available at your grocery; probably most of them are things you already eat. Some of them will surprise you: I have avoided sweet potatoes for years (I love them baked) because I thought they'd spike my blood sugar something fierce, but actually, just the opposite is true. Nothing here is weird or faddish -- it's all just simple food eaten in simple ways. The main idea pushed here is the sensible one of portion control. Hard to argue with that!
I also learned to start eating vinaigrette on my salads and to not put milk in my tea.
I have really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it.
