 Great cookbookMay 07, 2010
I like the fact that the recipes are in a binder so I can remove them if I want. I still haven't tried any of them yet but most of the ones I've read sound very interesting. I'll update this review after I've had time to bake some of these things.

After receiving this wonderful cookbook as a gift from the publishing company, I found it so complete that I ordered two more to give as gifts. With all the helpful hints prefacing each section, it is the perfect baking cookbook for both the novice cook AND the "seasoned" cook as well. While my cookbook is the hardbound copy, the ones I ordered are the ring-bound which make them even nicer. The recipes are down-to -earth recipes which can be used for either the every day meals or ones' fanciest entertaining. And, you can't beat the moderate price of the Taste of Home Baking Book.

Enough already of the cookbooks that have recipes with ingredients that start out with "1 Yellow Cake Mix". I don't buy a cookbook to use packaged baking items. I want a cookbook to have recipes that use flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, etc.....not packaged products. I don't consider using prepackaged items to be baking, and I don't have them in my pantry. I do have the flour, sugar, salt, etc.
Buy a different cookbook. This one is only so-so.

If you love Taste of Home, you'll like this book as well. I've never made anything of theirs I didn't like. Lately, I've been trying my hand at making more homemade cakes and frostings (all recipes in this baking book.) Have gotten some winning reviews from my teenage son and his friends, sometimes with requests for the recipe. I actually bought this book from a local Km--t store and the coupon was intact (for the free one year subscription to their T.O.H. magazine for purchasing this cookbook.) According to another reviewer, that might not be the case when purchasing the book through mail order(?) Idk. I purchased their other large cookbook from a huge warehouse store and the coupon was in it as well. I haven't had any problems with the free offer. It definitly helped me decide to make this purchase since the free subscription pretty much pays for your cookbook purchase. This is a huge spiral cookbook, and very nice as is TOH tradition.

This book is filled with many photos, index pages for each individual chapter/section, and helpful hints throughout. It also includes a see-through plastic page so you can protect the recipe you are working on. There are a wide variety of recipes that are sure to become favorites.
