What is an Affiliate Program?

An Affiliate Program allows you to make money by referring customers to our website. You do this by placing our banner and/or text links, which we provide, on your site. By placing these links, visitors to your site have the opportunity to click through to our site to buy our products. If a product is purchased through a link on your website, we pay you a commission for each sale. Every month we send you a check for a percentage of the sales you referred to our site. It's that easy!

 

Does it cost me anything to become an Affiliate?

No! It's absolutely free to join our Affiliate Program. There is no charge to apply and there is no minimum sales requirement.

Why should I join?

There are many reasons to join! Becoming an Affiliate is absolutely FREE, and you'll make money with very little effort. As an Affiliate, you can add value to the content of your site. We take the customer order and handle all payments. All you do is cash your commission check!

How do I sign up?

If you already have a Linkshare account, signing up is easy! Just sign in and click here to view our store page and sign up.

If you do not have a Linkshare account you must sign up for one first, click here and fill out the form and follow the easy directions. After your application is submitted, we will contact you to let you know if you've been accepted as an Affiliate, and we will provide you with information on how to get started.

What is Linkshare?

The Linkshare Corporation is a New York-based, independent organization, and is the largest provider of affiliate programs on the Internet. Linkshare provides the software that enables us to track affiliate activity and which also allows you to view your activity and commissions.

What if a customer comes to our site through your Web site, and decides not to make a purchase right away?

As long as the customer comes back to our site and makes a purchase within the next 30 days (known as 30 Return Days) you'll still earn a commission on the sale! They wouldn't even need to click through your site on subsequent visits for you to get credited with the sale!

Can a website outside the United States be an Affiliate?

Yes. We welcome Affiliates from anywhere in the world; however, customers that buy from our site must pay in U.S. dollars and ship to U.S. addresses. All commission payment checks to Affiliates are in U.S. dollars.

I operate more than one website. Can I still be an Affiliate?

Yes. You can have multiple sites as an Affiliate. You can have one Affiliate account with us that will include all of your sites. You can track the progress of each of your sites separately and be paid with only one commission check.

Is my website eligible to become an Affiliate?

Most sites will qualify to participate in the program. Anyone may submit an application, but we do reserve the right to refuse membership to a site or revoke a site's membership at any time if we deem that it contains objectionable material.

What are my responsibilities an as Affiliate?

The only thing you are responsible for is using the tag generator on the Linkshare interface to create and place links on your site. We handle everything else.

What are Reader’s Digest Store’s responsibilities?

We will provide you with the tools and support you need to maximize sales through your site. We also handle orders, shipping, and billing for all customers you refer to us.

I don't have a website. Can I still apply?

Unfortunately, no. In order for us to accept you as an Affiliate, we must be able to view your website.

What if I operate more than one Web site?

You can have multiple sites under one affiliate account. You can create links specifically for each site and generate separate reports for each site. You will receive one commission check for all sites.

Can I participate in other Affiliate Programs?

Yes, you can participate in as many affiliate programs as you wish. The Reader’s Digest Store Affiliate Program has a very high commission percentage and high quality products and you may want to devote as much space as you can.

How do I change my account information?

Once you have been accepted as an Affiliate, you will be given access to a password-protected area on the Linkshare site. Your account information can be modified through the interface.

Will becoming an Affiliate increase traffic to my site?

Our Affiliate Program is a revenue-sharing program. It is not designed to help you increase traffic to your site; however, it enhances your site with content, so your user return rate may be higher.

Can I bid on Reader’s Digest Store branded terms on search engines?

Please be advised that we do not allow our affiliates to bid on our brand terms or on our display url on search engines. For example, you many not bid on "Reader's Digest Store" or "ReadersDigestStore.com" or other variations of our brand name. Doing so can result in the termination of your affiliate account with Reader's Digest Store. You many refer to Section 9 of our Affiliate Agreement for more details on this policy. If there are any questions regarding which terms are available for use on search engines, please feel free to contact us.

SETTING UP LINKS How do I create links?

We have an automatic tag generator through a password-protected area on the Linkshare site that creates HTML you copy and paste into your website. It is so easy to use even beginners can create links in seconds. The tag generator allows you to create links to our products and categories.

Where should I place the links on my site?

You should place links where they are easy for your site visitors to find, such as your homepage. Some areas you may want to place your links include your home page, your navigation bar, and any other traffic areas. If you place the links in an easily accessible location on your site, your visitors will be more likely to make a purchase.

How often should I update my links?

You should update links to our products frequently. We are constantly adding new products, so you should create new links that fit the interests of your visitors.

Can I use your content on my site?

No, but we will supply you with graphics and links to help you sell product.

TRACKING, PAYMENT, AND REPORTING

How much can I earn?

We can't predict how much you will earn from our Affiliate Program because we’re not familiar with your website or your visitors. Our commissions begin at 10%.

How do I know how much commission I've earned?

Through the Linkshare interface, you can access reports, which are updated daily, that provide information on impressions, click throughs, orders, shipments, and commissions earned.

How often do I get paid?

We will send you a check for a percentage of the sales you referred to our site every month.

Do I earn commissions on my own purchases?

Yes. When you buy products from us through your website, you earn the same commission on your purchase that you would from a visitor purchase.

What about product returns?

If a user returns a product for a refund, or if credit card charges are reversed due to a dispute or credit card fraud, your account will be debited for any commission earned on that transaction.

How can I monitor my sales?

You can monitor your sales by accessing reports as often as you like through the Linkshare interface.

Who processes orders and handles customer service?

We do all of that for the customers that you refer to our site. All you have to do is place links on your site. We do the rest!

How will you know that the orders came from my site?

All links from your site to our site contain a unique identifier so that every time a user comes to us via your site, we know to credit you when a purchase is made. This is only possible, though, when you create all of your links with the tag generator through the Linkshare interface.

How often can I run reports?

You can run reports daily if you wish. The Linkshare interface is updated daily with the latest information about your site.

What happens if I terminate my affiliate membership? Will I be paid for my earnings?

Yes, once you terminate you membership we will cut one final check to you for the amount of commission you are owed
