Quick Overview

Unwritten by Charles Martin
An unlikely couple--a world-famous actress and a hermit fisherman--are brought together to save one another from themselves. We said, "Another winner in Martin's Nicholas Sparksian vein. The only thing that kept me from rating this an A was that I was not in a fit of uncontrollable weeping at the end, just an occasional spasm of mild misting over." This is our third time out with Martin, an Exciting New Author in 2010 who has quickly become a customer favorite.

The Promise by Ann Weisgarber
Our British office thought we might be interested in this book set in 1900 about a fallen society woman escaping to booming Galveston to accept the marriage proposal of a man she barely knows. "I loved this book and simply could not put it down. The author just nails it. . . It so perfectly portrayed and the characters are so well drawn that you're just living it along with them." This is our discovery author for this volume.

Never Go Back by Lee Child
Jack Reacher is reactivated into the military and immediately arrested for abandoning his wife and daughter. We were hooked just thinking about it: Jack Reacher's wife and daughter??? As our reviewer summarized it, "Ah Reacher. So reliable. So good." Maybe we just ought to blurb this as: Lee Child. Jack Reacher. 'Nuff said.

Stargazey Point by Shelley Noble
This has nostalgia, romance, cute kids, a great old man and his two old and slightly whacky sisters, undiscovered art, a crumbling southern mansion, a restored carousel, a very old lady who seems to be able to either do voodoo or read minds (or both), southern manners, buried family secrets. . .. It's a lovely gentle story set in a small town near Charleston, SC.
